Our proposal for a prototyping process for the LAGI 2025 Fiji pavilion brings together material experimentation, environmental responsiveness, and community-led design. We developed a modular bamboo structure with a wind-responsive folding solar roof and integrated rainwater harvesting, testing key components in real conditions with local partners. The prototype validated the joint mechanics, water storage design, and storm resilience, grounding the system in both traditional Fijian knowledge and cutting-edge sustainable infrastructure. This proposal highlighted the importance of a hands-on phase to lay the foundation for a full-scale, community-assembled pilot in Marou Village, designed for replication across island communities facing climate vulnerability.
